About Inside Brookside (and Waldo)

Mary Hutchison

Welcome to my window on the world of Brookside/Waldo!

This is the place for info on the people, places and businesses that make the Brookside/Waldo area Kansas City’s most charming place to live.

Here you’ll get my take on what’s happening (or going to happen) in the area, interesting things I’ve seen, people I’ve met and local businesses moving in (or out).  My husband and I own a home in Brookside—we love it!

I’m a Realtor with Weichert Realtors, Welch and Company so you’ll also see posts about the local housing market–and occasionally some great listings.

I grew up in St. Louis and have lived in Kansas City since the mid 1980s. Before embarking on a real estate career, I was a rock ‘n roll DJ (trivia tests welcome!), followed by several years working for Hyatt Hotels and the Convention and Visitors Association of Greater Kansas City.

Our daughter Erin attends Truman State University and Siena is in high school. We’re members of St. Peter’s Church. I serve as codes enforcement volunteer for the Armour Hills Homes Association. I also volunteer at KCUR radio and for the Waldo Area Business Association.  In my free time, I enjoy reading, local theater, discussing current events, baking, movies and having friends over on the patio!

I’d be honored if you subscribed for updates when I publish new posts by entering your email on the homepage in the box above the words “Sign Me Up!” (your email will never be sold or traded to anyone else).

Your comments are welcome…you can also email me directly at maryh@weicherthomeskc.com or text at 816 510 1262.

Thanks for reading. See you around town!

    • Hi Darlene! Brookside and Waldo are two different areas, next to each other. The rough (not official) boundaries are for Brookside:
55th St south to Gregory and State Line east to Holmes or Troost.
The Waldo boundaries, in my opinion, are Gregory south to 85th St, State Line east to Holmes or Troost.
Both are areas in Kansas City MO , within the city limits, each with a distinct personality and housing stock.
Thanks for the comment and reading my blog!
