Waldo Brews Tour – Happening Soon!

Think of all the great locally owned places you can hang out with friends in Waldo..coffee shops, bars, restaurants.  The upcoming Waldo Brews Tour gives you and your friends the opportunity to visit many of your favorite spots…and perhaps discover some new ones!

The tour runs from noon-6pm on Saturday June 7–you can make a day of it or just spend a couple of hours visiting a few places.  Coffee, tea, adult beverages and food are available…stops on the tour include Front Range Cafe, Kansas City Bier Company, City Barrel Pizza+Patio, Emilie’s French Teas; visit the Waldo Events page for the most up to date list.

Here’s how it works–purchase your ticket online, then pick up your ticket at Lew’s or City Barrel.  The day of the event you will get a wristband when you board the bus that gives you access to transportation and the special discounts and deals at each location.  The bus will stop at all participating locations; the main bus pick up and drop off is Waldo Social at 75th and Wornall.  Buy your ticket this week – before June 1— for $15; $20 for purchases June 1 through the day  of event.  Besides the beverage deals, you’ll get a commemorative free band tee and koozie!

Long time Waldo residents may remember the bar crawl Waldo hosted years ago…now it’s time for a new and improved event, incorporating non alcoholic beverages and earlier hours to visit each location at a leisurely pace. Get your discounted tickets now at the Waldo KC events page.

Brookside AND Waldo Hosting Festivals This Weekend

This is the weekend to be out and about in the neighborhood! Soak up the warm weather and charming atmosphere of Brookside and Waldo by spending some time at these free events:

Now in it’s 38th year, the Brookside Art Annual kicks off Friday night at 5pm. Recognized nationally as one of the country’s premier art fair events, you will see so many attractive and yes, some unusual pieces here; and at various prices. Local Brookside vendors will have food and beverages for sale; bring the little ones for some kids’ art activities on Saturday. The Brookside Art Annual continues through Sunday at Brookside Road and 63rd St.

Waldo is also hosting it’s Spring Fling on Saturday May 4 from 10am-5pm, at the northeast corner of Gregory and Wornall. Here you will find some vendor booths with services and various items for sale; food available also for purchase.

Please remember to be extra careful when driving around Brookside and Waldo over the weekend; there will be even more pedestrians and strollers walking to these events.

Celebrate Spring and our neighborhood this weekend by getting out and enjoying art, local food and visiting with neighbors at the Art Annual in Brookside and Waldo’s Spring Fling. Events like these are what make our area special!!

Waldo Small Business Saturday Crawl-Tomorrow!

Why fight the big box/mall crowds on Black Friday when you can leisurely shop local on Saturday??

waldo

This Saturday, November 25, 2017 is Small Business Saturday–shoppers are encouraged to go out and buy holiday gifts from locally owned businesses.  Usually the selection is more unique, staff is friendly and the stores aren’t so crowded with frantic bargain seekers.

Waldo is hosting the Small Business Saturday Crawl from 10am-4pm this Saturday. Visit at least ten businesses, spend $50 and receive $10 in Waldo Bucks to spend later.  Details on this promotion are at www.waldokc.org.  A few of the participating businesses include Bier Station, Eclectics, Hawthorne and IvyMikes Wine and Spirits, Waldo Pizza, COCO Brookside and Family Bicycles.  You can see how easy it would be to spend a total of $50 in one day at these and other Waldo shopping spots.

Support your neighbors and local economy by participating in Small Business Saturday–or whenever you plan your holiday gift buying trips!
