What’s new at the annual Armour Hills Ice Cream Social this year?  Quite a bit, actually.  We’ve made several changes for this year’s event that I will explain here, but first the details:

Arbor Villa Park (at Main and Edgevale)

No pets or alcohol allowed

In years past, we’ve had the event on a Friday evening.  When weather forced a move to Sunday night last year, the response was so positive we decided to move it to Sunday.  Also this year, the festivities run four hours instead of two.  We will still have the bounce house, pony rides, face painters, balloon animals and a magic show–plus free Schwan’s ice cream from 5:30-7pm.

For the past few years the homes association has also picked up the cost of food: burgers, pizza, drinks, etc.  However, because we went over budget with snow removal costs last winter, this year we are asking residents to purchase food and beverage from two food trucks.

Smokin’ Fresh Streetside BBQ features grass fed, hormone free beef, pork, and chicken, plus vegetarian options.  (Their website isn’t currently working, but you can find them on facebook).  Detroit Coney offers several types of  hot dogs, sausages, fries, chips and beverages.
