Two Brookside Community Meetings Happening Tonight- Oct 19

Our Brookside community has changed during it’s 100 year history…but does retain it’s original charm and character. Residents are very protective of the neighborhood! There are two meetings tonight discussing upcoming changes for our area, and you are invited to attend for your input.

The Brookside Placemaking Open House is hosted by the First Washington Realty group, happening from 4:30-6:30 at 118 W 63rd St. First Washington is planning on new signage, architectural features and art installations for the Brookside shops and is asking for community feedback.

The second meeting has to do with the redevelopment of the former Bryant Elementary School at 319 Westover. The KCPS Repurposing Initiative has chosen Sunflower Development Group to tear down the old building and construct several single family homes in it’s place. Tonight’s discussion will review the proposed project and discuss current agreements in place. The meeting starts at 5:30 at the Country Club United Methodist Church, 400 W 57th St.

It is unfortunate that both of these important meetings overlap; I plan on attending the Placemaking Open House event and will report back!
